"Went for a root canal today and the tooth most likely needed come out and could not be saved. Dr. Avalos took his time and worked at it for a few hours and ended up saving my tooth and adding a crown!! Best dentist out there!!"- H.S. / Google / Nov 05, 2021
"My experience at Mint Dentistry was WAY more than what I expected. I thought it was going to be a normal COLD emotionless dentist visit but NO this place is totally opposite. Its inviting, it doesn't even feel like your at a dentist when you walk in. The front desk personnel Ms. Samari and Ms. Jenah were full of smiles and performed customer service to the highest level. The dentist assistance Ms. Neon that was assigned to me, made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. With the massage chair while she took x-rays along with the option to watch Netflix. She's a diligent worker and enjoys what she does. My dental cleaning was done by someone who took perfectionism very serious. She kept x-raying her work to make sure she didn't miss a spot. That was impressive and showed she really cared. The Dentist Dr. Hunt was the man. As soon as he sat down and greeted me I knew I came to the right place. And after he completed my root canal and crown it was confirmed that I came to the right place. My tooth looks good. Well Done Mint Dentistry. Those radio commercials do actually live up to the hype. Well Done!"- G.O. / Google / Mar 26, 2020
Infections in the dental pulp are often caused by a cavity, crack, or physical trauma. Some of the most common signs that you may have an infected tooth are tooth or jaw pain, swelling of the gums (around the affected tooth), and changes in the color of the tooth. If the pulp is not removed, it will become increasingly painful as the infection spreads to other teeth and your bloodstream.
What to Expect
On the day of your root canal, we will show you to one of our treatment chairs, where you will be given a pair of our MINT dentistry sunglasses and be offered a pair of our Beats headphones. We want you to feel at ease while you undergo treatment, so the MINT dentistry team will help you choose the most effective type of sedation for your root canal therapy. Many patients request nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or oral-conscious sedation to help them remain comfortable during a root canal. During an endodontic procedure, one of our board-certified dentists will carefully remove the infected pulp utilizing state-of-the-art tools and techniques. From there, the inside of the empty chamber will be thoroughly sterilized to remove any lingering debris. Once the tooth is cleaned, it will be filled with a special material to seal and protect the tooth. In most cases, a crown will be placed over the treated tooth to strengthen and protect it.
Depending on what sedation was used, you may need to have a responsible adult take you home after your procedure. Your mouth may feel sensitive or swollen for a while so your doctor may prescribe a pain reliever. You should schedule a follow-up appointment six months after your root canal. Our team will make sure the infection is gone and that your mouth has healed. After that, you should continue to schedule annual dental exams and bi-annual cleanings to maintain your dental health.
